Concrete columns

Among soil improvement methods (e.g. for direct foundations, road and railway embankments, etc.) aimed at enhancing bearing capacity, stability and/or limitation of settlement we execute the following type of concrete columns:

• displacement columns formed in the soil with no excavation and spoil according to PN-EN 12699 Wykonawstwo specjalnych robót geotechnicznych. Pale przemieszczeniowe (Execution of Special Geotechnical Works. Displacement Piles), or

• non-displacement columns formed with Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) with spoil removal according to PN-EN 1536 Wykonawstwo specjalnych robót geotechnicznych. Pale wiercone (Execution of Special Geotechnical Works. Drilled Piles).

Displacement columns with a diameter of 410mm or non-displacement columns with diameters of 470mm or 500mm are usually installed as unreinforced or with technological reinforcement which protects the column head during the execution of piling or/and earth works.

For designing these ground improvement solutions we use specialist software based on Priebe’s method. For technical specifications (SST) regarding the execution of concrete columns used for ground improvement, please visit the site of the Polish Association for Special Foundations Contractors Polskie Zrzeszenie Wykonawców Fundamentów Specjalnych.
