Deep foundation works at the S61 National Road, constructed under the Via Baltica project.
One of the major road investments in North-Eastern Europe, linking Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, Via Baltica together with Rail Baltica is a key part of the Trans-European transport corridor.
AARSLEFF actively participates in the construction of this important route. Currently, we’re executing deep foundation works at the S61 National Road, section Ełk Południe – Wysokie, constructed under the Via Baltica project, using the precast pile technology.
Due to the specific soil conditions of this sections, in particular organic soils (peats, warps, gyttja), some of the designed structures required deep foundations. We have installed precast piles for the foundation of a bridge over the Ełk River, a railway overpass and several wildlife crossings.
AARSLEFF Team have designed precast piles driven in organic soils for the foundation of the said facilities.
Choosing precast piles for the foundation of such structures in soil conditions similar to those described above, our Clients avoid the risk of the loss of pile integrity and impossibility of forming the pile shaft in the ground. The precast pile technology ensures quick execution of the works. With their high strength parameters and cost-efficiency, precast piles are a widely applied and popular foundation solution.
